Saturday April 5th, 2014 at Central Penn College
RSammons Canon Explorer of Light Rick Sammon loves his day job. A tireless, prolific and inspirational image-maker, Rick, called by some “The Godfather of Photography,” is one of the most active photographers on the planet – dividing his time between creating images, leading photo workshops, and making personal appearances. Rick’s enthusiasm for digital imaging is contagious. He is a man on a mission – a mission to make digital photography fun, creative, exciting and rewarding for others. A natural teacher, Rick enjoys sharing his photographs and providing practical how-to advice to a wide audience of photo enthusiasts through his blog, books, how-to videos, iPhone and iPad apps, a podcast and an expanding following on social media. With nearly 800,000 Google+ followers, he has been recognized as one of the top photographers to follow on Google+. In his spare “desk time,” Rick writes the “Quick Fix” column for Digital Photo Magazine. Please visit his website.
Leo Howard Lubow is a writer, educator, and award-winning photographer whose specialties include portraiture, promotional images, jazz & street photography, and fine art prints.    Since 1997, when he gave up his practice as a business litigator, he has completed an existential thriller, written articles on interests ranging from jazz to boxing, and created a varied body of images for clients and magazines.  In his more personal work, Lubow’s interest lies in the individual or lone traveler, separated from the mainstream of life.  In short, he looks for the isolated moment.  For more on Lubow and his work, see lubowphotography.com.

Rick Sammon, a Canon Explorer of Light photographer, will present “Exploring Light and Creative Composition”.  This informative and fun-filled presentation will begin with Rick sharing his people, wildlife, landscape and travel pictures from around the globe – illustrating the difference between taking pictures and making pictures.

For every image, Rick will share a photographic technique, digital darkroom tip, or a photo philosophy. He will cover seeing the light, controlling the light, playing with the light, HDR photography and some composition techniques. This is not just a slide show of pretty images. Rick is here to share what he’s learned over his many years as a professional photographer. As Rick “takes” us on a visual journey through the world of digital photography, he will share some of his favorite Lightroom and Photoshop enhancements.

Rick Sammon’s keynote address at 3:00 pm will motivate and inspire photographers to make better pictures. In this presentation, illustrated with some of his favorite images, Rick will share his Top Ten Techniques to Get Inspired. Sammon’s presentations are sponsored by Canon USA.

Leo Howard Lubow, an award-winning photographer, will review, discuss and deconstruct the photographs of several B&W masters, including Michael Kenna, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Diane Arbus and Arnold Newman, as he explores the question: what makes a great B&W photograph? In addition to focusing on elements of composition, light and texture, Lubow will also suggest tips and techniques for capturing a fine art image, all toward one end: to help you refine both your eye and craft as you shape your own special vision.

Each workshop will be given in the morning and afternoon so you can take advantage of both speakers.
