PHOTO FIELDTRIP to LILYPONS GARDENS IN ADAMSTOWN MD

PHOTO FIELDTRIP to LILYPONS GARDENS IN ADAMSTOWN MD (near Frederick MD)

Rain or Shine on SATURDAY JULY 28TH
Leaving from the Camp Hill Arby’s at 6:00 A.M.

The Harrisburg Camera Club will be travelling to Lillypons Gardens on Saturday July 28th.  We will be car pooling from our usual location at the Arby’s side of the Camp Hill Giant Grocery Store, at 6:00 AM in the morning.  We expect to be at Lilypons Gardens at 7:15.  The owners of the business are sending me the key to unlock the gate so we can get in before anybody else.  We will have no interference from customers. LilyponsGardens does not open for business until 10:00 on Saturdays.

So what makes this location different from other photo fieldtrips?  For one the site has ponds of aquatic wildlife and plants.  Expect to find frogs and turtles, lily pads, water lilies, lotus blossoms and some flowers.  The grounds are also residences for birds, in particular herons and egrets.  They have ponds of Koi fish, some of the fish are very large.  The main sales house on the grounds is painted pink, so there are other possibilities there. The fact that we have free run of the place for over two hours is another plus.  We expect to leave the gardens at noon to return to Camp Hill.

What you should bring:  the usual, extra batteries, extra digital cards, comfortable shoes, a tripod, a macro lens for plants and flowers, a medium to long lens for amphibians and birds, a hat and money to pay your driver and possible eats.  Other items to bring if you have them: bug spray, a reflector and/or a flash for filling in shadows and a scrim or diffuser to cut harsh light.  You will also find that a polarizing filter will be must helpful to cut glare and darken the water.  Water and other liquid refreshments are available after 10:00.  There is no entrance fee or shooting fee and tripods are welcome.  This event is rain or shine.
